ELF Module 11- Gliding
Module 11 is named gliders. Students focus on listening for initial blends in words e.g. black – bl, snap – sn.
Learning Activities

- Following instructions – student listen and follow instructions to draw a picture from Muffalo Potato.
- Listening for initial blends – students fold and make paper aeroplanes to use in a game where they can only throw if they hear a specific letter 2nd in the word e.g listen for l – throw if the word is plink but not for pink.
- Reading ccvc words (consonant, consonant, vowel, consonant) – this game involves matching shapes with letters on and then reading words with ccvc pattern.
- Vocabulary – students listen to silly sentences and offer correct vocabulary so that the sentence makes sense.
- Table soccer – this is a really popular game. Students flick a ping pong ball into the correct goal depending on the 2nd consonant in the word.
- Memory game reading ccvc words.
- Spelling – spell ccvc words.
- Handwriting – students use the sight word focus for the week to practice letter formation and positioning on the lines.
- Language development – teachers read books to the students and discuss the content using Blanks Questions as a basis to extend language and vocabulary. Training in Blanks Questions is available at Blanks Questions Training
- Write their first name and surname, if still required.
- Sight words – students are exposed to and play games focusing on the Lime words from Magic Words.
