ELF Module 10 – Shapes

The focus for Module 10 is shapes. Students continue to work on reading and spelling real and nonsense cvc words.

Learning Activities

1. Revision of letters and sounds – students make the letters with paddle pop sticks.
2. Isolating the vowel sounds – students listen to real and nonsense words and identify the vowel sound. They draw different shapes around their answers.
3. Phonological awareness – students explore changing sounds in words.
4. Reading game – students roll a vowel dice and place in the middle of 2 consonant letters to build a real of nonsense word.
5. Spelling – real and nonsense words.
6. Handwriting – students spell the focus sight words with a focus on correct letter formation and placement.
7. Language development – teachers read books to the students and discuss the content using Blanks Questions as a basis to extend language and vocabulary. Training in Blanks Questions is available at Blanks Questions Training
8. Sight words – students are exposed to and play games focusing on the Aqua words from Magic Words.
